Map of Australia

Mr ALISTER HENSKENS (Wahroonga) (12:00) —The Australia Day 2023 Honours List is an important part of our national holiday that recognises and celebrates people who have had a significant impact on the local, national and international level. This year 1,047 people were recognised. One of these people was the late Roger Allan Foy OAM of South Turramurra who received the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the automotive history. Unfortunately, Mr Foy passed away in April of this year. He was 93 years old. His Order of Australia Medal was nominated by "The Friends of Fagan Park", Galston. He was an engineer at BMC Australia and member of the Austin Motor Vehicle Club of NSW. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Veteran Car Club and apart of Friends of Fagan Park. He tested and modified vehicles to suit Australian road conditions and particularly for the "Freeway" car. He Co-authored "Building Cars in Australia" produced by the BMC-Leyland Australian Heritage Group. I pass on my condolences to Roger's family and recognise what an excellent achievement it was to be given the Medal of the Order of Australia.
